About
This course is designed specifically for IB Business Management (SL/HL), helping you learn the syllabus content and, crucially, how to use it the way IB assessments require. You will build the ability to apply concepts to unfamiliar contexts, use IB command terms correctly, select the right business tools, and write clear, balanced evaluations that lead to justified recommendations. You will cover the full range of IB business fundamentals: how organisations create value (inputs–process–outputs, factors of production, added value, sectors of the economy), types of organisations and legal structures, entrepreneurship, and the role of ethics, CSR, and stakeholder management. You will develop strategic thinking by analysing objectives, growth options (internal and external growth, mergers and acquisitions), economies and diseconomies of scale, and the opportunities and risks of globalisation. The course also trains the core functional areas in an IB-ready way. Human resources focuses on organisational structure, leadership and motivation, recruitment and training, rewards, communication, and managing change. Finance develops confidence with revenue and cost behaviour, break-even and profit planning, sources of finance, final accounts, depreciation, and ratio analysis so you can interpret performance and make decisions. Marketing builds practical skill in market research, segmentation, positioning, the marketing mix, pricing, promotion, distribution, and international market entry. Operations covers production methods, capacity and productivity, quality management, stock control, make-or-buy decisions, and planning for disruption. Throughout the course you will practise IB-style exam and IA skills: using evidence, linking theory to the case, showing calculations clearly when needed, weighing pros and cons, and concluding with a well-supported judgment.
